Kenneth Smith
Executive Director

Leaving the book industry as the vice president of sales and marketing of Hampton Roads Publishing Co., Mr. Smith joined the Institute as communications director shortly after it was formed in 2003 and became executive director in 2008. He has served on the staff of nonprofit organizations including The Monroe Institute, The Boys Clubs of America, and The Association for Research and Enlightenment. He has authored several books that explore the nature of consciousness and energy, and associated implications for health. Among his magazine publications are articles on DNA therapy, bioenergetics, the placebo response, and molecular cross-reactivity. Mr. Smith received degrees in education and mass communications from the University of Arizona and the University of South Florida, respectively.


John McMichael, Ph.D.
President, Chief Scientific Officer, and Director

Dr. McMichael is President, Chief Scientific Officer, and founder of the Institute. In 2004, he also founded Beech Tree Labs, Inc., a discovery and early-stage development biopharmaceutical company. In 1993, he founded Milkhaus Laboratory, Inc. (MLI), and served as President from MLI’s inception through September 2000. From 1991 to 1992 he was Vice President of Molecular Rx, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on products for managing inflammatory responses. Before this, Dr. McMichael was engaged in independent research and served as general manager of ImmunoTherapeutics, a proprietorship focused on developing new therapeutic products. From 1975 through 1986, Dr. McMichael was Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor, and for the last four years, Professor of Biology and Health Sciences at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Dr. McMichael is cited as an inventor on more than 100 domestic and foreign patents. He received his B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maine and his Ph.D. from Oregon State University in Immunology and Virology.
